Dear Gordon Brown and the Labour Govt,
Why the flying f
k, you one-eyed sack of st, don't you give the armed forces of this country proper fking equipment, you stingy, self-obsessed slimy wker. Why are you allowing the RAF to use out-dated Tristars to transport Army troops home, for Christmas, the time when everyone would like to see their sons/daughters serving overseas.
Because of your Crack-addict like obsession with buying votes rather than properly equipping the forces, my step-daughter has had her flight back to the UK cancelled every day since monday.
Just to let you know Gordon, My Step-Daughter is at Batus in Suffield (Just outside Calgary in Canada). You might have heard of it - its where Prince Harry went for training, and as I recall I don't think they tried to fly him home on a fkING TRISTAR.
She was "supposed" to fly out on Monday, and due to "bad weather" (Even though other airlines seemed to manage to take off without any probs) she is not going until Saturday.

She's based in Germany and we had arranged for her to fly here on Saturday from the UK (Oh, the Same Saturday that her flight is due to leave Canada ?) which now means we've just had to shell out the thick end of a grand for Air Canada flights, PLUS not being able to get a refund on her BA flight from the UK. Meaning overall, we're now down approx $1900.
As this is the season of goodwill, all I can say is; I Hope you choke on your Turkey, you.

Whilst I'm with you on most of the sentiments there, the loss on Wednesday of a soldier from 1st Rifles and the recent losses to the Marines, all part of 3 Commando Brigade, strike very close to home for me.
At the moment, just be thankful you know your nearest and dearest are safe and well. Military air transport is, as you have experienced, stretched to breaking point at present, and will be for a long time to come.

I totally agree and I'm sorry for a self-obsessed rant gievn what you've said, I do have a lot to be thankful for, but as I said in ypauly's thread, it pisses me off that the UK can spend billions of tax-payers money in an attempt to divert attention from how royally they've pissed it all up the wall, yet can't equip people fighting for their country properly.At the moment, just be thankful you know your nearest and dearest are safe and well. Just a quick update and just to let you know how much I guesstimate this cost the army.
The Tristar sat at Calgary airport from Mon-Sat at a rough cost of $2000 a day (According to my daughter, who was told that by their RSM) = $12,000
30 squaddies were put up at Calagary Airport hotel at roughly $100 a night each (inc food) = $18,000
The plane took off Saturday, but one of the engines caught fire, so they had to return. I guess its still there at the moment, racking up $2,000 a day (again) = $4,000 so far
The people on that flight were then put on a commercial flight to the UK. Cost ? I guess around say, $7-800 each ? (30 * $700 = $21,000)
So by my (rough) calculations - this whole thing cost $55,000.
Still, she's here for Xmas and for that, I'm really really happy !
