some of you may recall this from your school days, others with an emergency services or forces background definitely will.

(Them of you who have drank so much beer, grown a pot belly and driven everywhere since the age of 16, I will jog - no pun intended - your memory). The bleep test is measured over a distance of 15m (normally marked out by lines or cones), the participant will run between the 15m keeping in time with a cassette/cd of recorded bleeps.

Each level has ten shuttles and as each level passes the participant has less time to run between the cones etc.

I have been and still am praticising this - having reached level 12 this morning before nearly killing myself.

Now then, I know numerous PHers took up the challenge to do a 100 push ups, I was wondering who - if anyone - would be interested in taking up this challenge.

Anyone?

I don't understand why the level was ever dropped that low...but nevermind! I wan't to reach level 14/15, I'll be happy then.

I'm not super fit right yet, just average...it makes me think back to my school days and how super-scrote used to get 15 plus; come to think of it, his nickname was 'billy whizz'!

Google the results for the national sports teams, If my memory serves, which it probably doesn't... the England national hockey and squash teams only average 12.something, with football being a bit higher. It's quite interesting to see the differing fitness levels.

Again google it, I got a copy from the Australian military website. I know they have a mp3 you can download. They have pressup and situp tests on there too.

ETA: I would find a link, but too many sites are blocked at work!

I purchased mine online somewhere...got a fancy CD! I've been informed if you look on google for '15m bleep test' there are various places you can download it from, someone else mentioned limewire (I don't know how legit that is though...).

Its easy to compete in though; all you need is 15m of open land and an mp3 player of some description - fight the Christmas flab!

level 15+ will be pretty hard. I think my best was around 15.10 - which was quite a while ago, before the worst excess of beer & laziness set in

I was at school with a lad who got to about level 16 or something like that.
Although at school he was the ISA schools 3000m & x-country champion for U18 age group.
Even though he was 16!

I'm in the RAF and the level marker to hit for 18-28 is 9.10 which in fair is easy and I'm 29 in Feb.

How on earth the police only have to do level 5 I'll never know. Speaks volumes I think.
