What happened to Ray Cokes ?

Anyone remember Ray Cokes, one of the original MTV VJ's ?

Used to do Mtv's Most Wanted and then disappeared, only to come back and do a one off show some while later.

I used to really enjoy his shows and just wonder why he seemed to vanish overnight.

Did he sleep with the wrong person ?

Top fella. Am not particularly swayed by presenters but he stood out. Funny in a way Moyles will never be....Moyles will never be funny full stop though...

Am sure this has been discussed before.

But, yes, he did do something that rocked the boat and got him "demoted" at MTV, can't remember what.

Are we talking ealry 90's, thin faced guy, used to do a tea time show, sat behind a counter type thing? Back in the days when MTV was watchable. Davina (Big brother) was presenter then as well and even more irritating.

That's scary that is, I was looking through google for a 'separated at birth' pic of one of the Chuckles and couldn't find one. If only Ray would grow a 'tache it'd make life so much easier.

I used to watch Most Wanted religiously, MTV always had the best thing to watch at any time of day back then, it was an absolutely top channel. I seem to recall he did a live show with a large audience in Germany one night, there was a bad element in the crowd who had brought some beer with them, and the show finished an hour early before it got too nasty. He was off the air a week later, which I always thought was extremely unfair.

He's a great entertainer and could easily have been a legend of British telly had circumstances been different. But it's Naughty Nympho Nina I miss the most.

Last I heard he was a radio DJ in germany. Most of his production staff went on to work with Channel 4, doing shows like TFI Friday - Wicked Will from Most Wanted was the same person as WIIIIIIIIIIIIL!!! from TFI.

Most wanted was epic. I recorded the last one but I think the tape got wiped before I could do anything with it. The last X-Ray Vision was also fantastic - he knew he wasn't coming back so he went mental, A girl in the audience won a tenner from him by guessing which of 3 guys was her BF by the feel of their tackle He was an utter utter legend.

I agree with the comments about this being back when MTV was good. It went downhill when they split up MTV Europe into different regions. One channel playing music and having presenters from all over Europe was pretty good. If I had a time machine i'd go back and record loads of it to play again now.
