Will do. I couldn't get the garage today, so I think I'm starting tomorrow. The service notes say it's a clam off job!

Why do you want to replace the motor?
When i got my 2001 S2 the motor wouldnt park in the same place twice. Solved the issue from previous experience of single wiper car....

probably not impossible to remove it but wouldnt say it would be easy

I burnt the motor out the other morning. I didn't realise it was icy and got in the car and activated it to clear the screen. It was quite a mild morning but the blade was stuck completely and the motor burnt out before I realise what was happening! The fuse is fine...

The service manual says it's a clam off job, but according to Bell and Colvill it's possible with the clam on, just really fiddly, which sounds quite accurate smile. I had an hour free today to start the job, and it's going smoothly so far. Yes, it's a real fiddle, but not too hard really. I'll continue tomorrow if I get time.

I'm experiencing the same problems. Is it an easy fix?

Sorry for the delay in reporting back, I've been in bed with food poisoning! I was actually barking up the wrong tree before, having been convinced by my Dad that the motor wouldn't seperate from the linkage and I would need to change the entire assembly. Actually, that's not true - the motor just pops off in ten minutes and a new one goes in in another ten... I've done that but now I've discovered that I no longer have a "fast" wiper speed. I have a funny feeling that not only did the fuse fail to protect the motor, but it also failed to protect something in the loom or circuitry... I'll call a garage in the morning as it's beyond me to be quite honest. I don't suppose I'd get anywhere with Lotus if my suspicions are correct? The fuse should have prevented all of this and I should have been ten minutes late for work, not be stuck unable to drive my car for weeks frown
