Chevy oil leak
Discussion
I have just driven my 6.3L GTR for the first time since delivery of all the bits in March.
It has an old style chevy block with a two piece rear crank oil seal. The engine is new AmSp .There is a leak from this seal.I cannot tell how bad the leak is when the car is on the move but idling it drops about 4 drips every 10 mins.I would like to know from experienced owners the following.
1.Is this common?
2.If fitted properly are these old type seals oiltight?
3If so for how long?
Thanks in advance
Frank

I d'ont know what aPCV valve is.Is it a way to reduce crankcase pressure?I have been thinking of a way to reduce crankase pressure to limit the oil leak. There are just 2 open breathers on the rocker covers.I have stopped these covers leaking !

FYI I kind of got pissed of with My Oil burning Oil leaking Old SBC I had.. It never let me down and went well, but the frequent trips above 6500rpm and Basic internal design does mean It tends not to breath well from the sump.... So without having a Drysump and
any other fancy Breathing system It just leaked out any place it could.... Great fun but began to hate cleaning up after..... Hoping my new LS7 wont be the same, and after reading all the development on the LS motors they have spent some time on the breathing system, so now they can do 7000 rpm from GM... where as t old units where never designed for it........
Hope that explains my comments... all the best Clive
