All, I am totally delighted with my GL420CDi, which has now passed 30,000 miles in 18 months. It has just had its second service, and apart from a replacement rear shocker under warranty at 20,000 miles, and a recall (P117) for a new crankshaft position sensor, also under warranty, it has been faultless. It also had a new set of 20" tyres at 20,000 miles. On checking my last service bill, I'm amazed to find that - including VAT - the 11.5 litres of high grade oil in the sump have cost me £188.50. Yup, 2 and a half gallons (in old money) of posh oil at £13.95 a litre, plus VAT. Now while I'm not unhappy with a good volume of oil in this 4 litre V8 diesel, and which I'm hoping will last for the next 15,000 miles, I am unhappy that the scallywag who was going to pinch 100 litres of diesel from my fuel tank might now realise that there's more value in draining the sump instead!!!
Any other good stories of dealer's taking the piss at service time?????
