Lee's LS1.....
Discussion
Thanks for the input guys, These are K/N filters, part number for a SBC sprint car, rated at 2800 cfm . Yes that is a Kinsler I.R. unit under the filters. The K/N needs to be very slightly altered on the ends, the overall distance from front stack to back stack is about 1/2 inch longer then a SBC. The reason for the custom made tie wraps is that the intended thru bolt that clamps down the top element intefers with the outside edge of the air horn by maybe a 1/4 inch. Nils Castillo that built the engine and is a genius with Motec's supports several unlimited and thropy class off road race trucks and one of the French teams that run the Paris to whereever the terrorists aren't race. All of these have Motec driven LS motors in them. All of the Motecs are mounted as shown. One unit has been there for four years of racing thats a thousand mile course thru the Mexican desert 2 races a year thats 8000 miles. Nils myself or Motec aren't concerned about the vibration or the heat. You can't see it but all of the electronics except the starter are on one plug below the mount. I have had the motor out by myself in 3 hours. The addition of the dry sump will probably make that 3.5 hours. By the way those fuel lines are really an inter-utrine device for an elephant,or at least thats what Nils called them after he first saw them. Lee
