I was thinking of getting a new plasma screen after christmas (when i have a few spare ££££) however when having a look around the i came across the article below which is forecasting a 30% or more increase in electronics next year

Have heard very similar stories from Jewellers especially regarding premium brand watches.

Alas its true, feature of foreign exchange rates.

Add into this that some models are in very short supply (50" Pioneers, for instance) then if you're considering an AV purchase sooner is better than later.

Thanks for that, first I had heard of it. Looks like im getting myself a early Christmas present and even better the GF cant complain because im saving money .

Have a think about where they're made. Now have a think about the shop you buy it from, the distributor and importer who have to get them into the country, and what currency they pay in. Then take a look at how much of that currency the pound gets now compared to a few months ago.

Anything imported, especially from the far east, is going to get a lot pricier very soon. There's been a delayed effect as many of the shipments coming in recently will have been agreed and paid for months ago - we'll start seeing the effect not long into the new year.

The government must have thought they were quite clever putting things like freeview boxes into the "standard basket" to calculate inflation but there's a good chance that could make the inflation figures look considerably worse now.
