Diagnostic plug, Where is it?

Got my lead from Neil a couple of days ago, so decided to hook it up last night but i cant find the plug anywhere. Checked all round the fuse box and ecu. All i can find is a plug on around 12" of wire that goes in the ecu's direction, great i thought buts its only a 2 pin plug. Any ideas?

I have found this thread over on the Tam/350/sag forum, the 2 pin plug i found is the same as that, (thats also 2 pin not 3) Here is a pic...

Ok cool, So what does the 3rd wire on the diagnostic lead connect too? which two of the 3 on the lead do i use?

Hmm, both wires are black. the lead comes off the ecu loom a few inches from the main connector. I have the ecu out, it has Tus 2 written on it but mine is a 2000 car? It has the 9 pin D conector inside the case.

BGB, Can you take a picky of your ECU please showing the outside and the inside? The two pin plug you have shown is (AFAIK) NOT the ECU plug which, as you correctly identified, is a 3 pin socket and would fit the plug on the right.

Here we go, hopefully enough detail, taken on camera phone. As it has the D connector inside i can make up a new lead but would much rather use the one Neil did for me. Top guy by the way, would reccomend his lead for anyone who does have the 3 pin connector!

Thanks V Much for the pikkies - I had my ECU out this weekend as I was trying to tidy up the wires. My ECU is wedge shaped (knew I should have taken a photo) thin at the bottom, thick at the top where 3 rectangular plugs are inserted. The cover is held in place with melted plastic sprues so isn't easy to remove and refit. I could always try to thread the sprues and use small screws I suppose. As such, I've not had the lid off mine so don't know if there is a 9 pin DIN in there or not.

Mine is a late 2001 Tusc (registered Jan 02) and is an MBE type. I connect to it using the 'Yellow' Cerb software, though I've changed the background so it's now my car!
