I reckon you (mods) should not be so quick to move threads as I reckon sometimes it can be detrimental to both the thread and the forum.

The remote controlled jet thread is a good example. That would have been a great thread and I would never ever think to visit a Radio Controlled Toy forum which it now resides.
In fact, even though I know it is there and want to hear more- naturally there is no way I can go onto that forum.

The point of other forums (like that one) as I understand it-is to stop the P&P getting clogged up with boring cliquey crap.
Ones like that though, have a pretty universal appeal and should be left, in my irrelevant opinion.

If you move this thread to Website Feedback then I shall hunt you.

If they want to start moving threads to more 'appropriate' forums, I don't think their job is quite done yet.

I was surprised the RC jet thread was moved.

meh.

To be a moderator on a forum requires a certain anal retentiveness, a desire to meddle in the minutiae. They will analyse every thread to see if it matches (even tangentally) any of the criteria for a move, and then even if it doesn't, they'll press the button anyway.

It gives them purpose, it is their raison d'etre.

I was very tempted to move this to a really obscure Ginetta forum or something like that hehe

Moving the one about the longevity of whisky from this pub forum to the food forum was a bit of a puzzle...

Edited to add...for the sake of clarity, this was posted when this thread resided in the P&P...

So you think that moving a thread about radio control models should not have been moved to the forum that specially talks about all things models (radio control included)?

The forum where all the actual knowledge on the subject is already in place?

Surely the point of posting a thread asking for advice is to actually get proper advice, from those who actually know the facts. What better place for R/C advise than the forum specialising in R/C answers?

If you actually visited "that forum" you would see that there are already some good answers about Radio control jets that cost around £5k. It's gonna be a very interesting thread... that that you could possibly click that link. You obviously might catch something nasty hehe

ps. Mods, this thread should be moved to website feedback wink

We'd have been standing around in our leather-elbow-padded jackets, getting a semi at the opportunity to revel in a level of detail only known and understood by those of a forum-moderating persuasion yes

MOre than fifty percent of the answers on this thread make, or refer to that gag, as does the OP. FYI.
