Pleasant Surprise This morning.

After all the doom and gloom, and knowing people that are affected in a big way, I've personally been cheered up by :

a) My Boss gave me £40's worth of Asda gift card.
b) The MD has given everyone a blanket 3% pay rise effective from Jan 1st
c) Our bonus will be 9.5% (pro rata for my 8 months) payable in Feb Pay Packet.

Well, our company have not paid for any parties, a blanket "no" payrise for anyone in our division and made some 300 people redundant before Christmas, they have also "misplaced" just under three grands worth of my expenses....

a) This is all that is left in the bank
b) It doesn't matter as he will make you all redundant on 31st Dec by text message
c) He doesn't care because there won't be a Feb pay packet

Does he have a holiday home far far away and plans to go there "for Christmas"?

3% is a bit low... maybe 3.5% is more like what you need to stand still!?

When friends in other industries are given 6 weeks, before they are one of Brown's Casualities, I think 3% is fine.

Go booze shopping at Asda - they've got better deals than most of the other supermarkets.

I know what its like to get pleasant surprises - I received a bottle of Bollinger at the weekend from a fellow PH'er who I was helping out with some advice on tackling another firm of Insolvency Practitioners. Was a very very pleasant surprise indeed!

Well yes, if things are tight, great... just make sure things are tight and there are not a few taking the lions share unless they have bloody earned it

Generally a bit tongue in cheek though
