Noisy Noble

Just purchased a lovely yellow M12 Noble, she looks great but the droning noise in the cabin on motorways at anything past 65mph is unbearable. My hubby contacted the dealer who supplied the car only to be told that they all do that................ Is this true, or have I landed a dud?

They aren't too quiet at motorway speeds but no droning - please explain: eg: Is the noise coming from a particular area or all over and is it constant to the vehicle speed (or does it slow down when the speed reduces)? What condition are the tyres in and have the pressures been checked?

A droning noise that is excessive for a 3 litre (or 2.5) twin turbo engine mounted directly behind the drivers head?

There is almost no droning noise up to 65mph, then it starts, the noise sounds like it is under the car and fills the whole cabin with a constant droning similar to a propeller type aircraft. If the clutch is dipped the noise reduces. It doesnt change much under cornering, so we don't think that it is wheel bearings.

So you're saying if you kick the clutch out and so free wheel with the engine at idle, the noise is still there?

I can quite happily have a conversation while doing a brisk 70mph... even at 140mph on the autobahns I could still chat its not quite but there is no noticable drone.

A drone at speed sounds to me like a gearbox problem.... but could be a simple as something touching the chasis and transmitting the vibrations.

Take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it.

Try switching your heater matrix dial for the speed to re circ. If it was like a mine and a few that I have been in this solves it. It has something to do with the cabin pressure?? Anyway worked for me!!

Had a similar problem with the harness seat belts touching the back of the seat or the bodywork at speed. Flipped em aorund into the seat. Jobs a good un.

Under load more noise, dip clutch less load = less noise?
