New Heated Windscreans

Why would you want a htd w/screen in a cerb?
On cold damp winter days the standard Cerb heating isn't very effective at clearing the windscreen. Also the later 'Mod' that TVR did to improve the heating in effect turns the Hot air system into a Re-circ air system which just makes misting up even worse. So a heated front windscreen would be good.I think the performance of the various versions of the windscreen vents varies dramatically.
Mine is a 98 car with the black cows udder affair under the steering column. It has 2 circular directional vents about 3 inch in diameter set in the top of the dash.
They clear the screen and side windows without a problem and keep the car nice and warm.

Having followed thiis thread I have been out to the garage and sure enough the screen fitted to my Cerb has the wire filaments just like the Fords. Did TVR fit heated front screens to later Cerbs?
There was a thread on this ages ago and 'someone in the know' said that it was an option on later models but I don't know when the 'later' started.Sorry, not much help eh ?

I have been looking for a new windscreen, and found a chap that will supply a heated one for £250 the catch is I need 9 other people to buy one and be willing to wait for up to 4 months for the tooling and screens to be made.
anyone else interested?

I would be very cautious about anyone who claims that they can copy a Cerbera windscreen. It is common practice in windscreen manufacturing for non OE suppliers to copy the windscreen, side and rear glasses of new models so that they can extend the range of parts that they offer to the aftermarket installers. This goes on all the time so that the supply of the windscreen for the latest vehciles is not exclusive to the OE glass manufacturer. It also helps maintain sanity in the pricing structure (sometimes!)anyone else interested?

However, many companies have tried to copy the Griffith/Chimaera screen and failed, including Pilkington. The OE factory is in Finland and the shape of the glass is a nightmare to produce. We have only come across one factory (in South Africa) that has successfully produced copies of a consistent shape and quality. The Cerbera screen shape is certainly no less complex than the Griffith.
There are several factories in China producing low volume heated screens for a variety of vehicles and some of these seem to do what they are supposed to do in terms of demist. I would be very sceptical about their ability to replicate the shape with any accuracy or consistency though.
How easy is it to remove a screen whole? I'd be interested in having a heated one and keeping my old one as a spare but only if it's an easy job to keep the original without damaging it? Things like screens are gonna be ahrd to get when you need one.
Wiring for em is a simple pos and neg wires, I had a heated screen in my old Gp4 Mk2 Escort and it was ace.
May be interested, any more details?
