Impreza non-franchise specialist Dorset/Hants?
Discussion
Any recommendations as to local specialist?
MIGHT have found the car I'm after if, as they say, 'the price is right'. 60,000 mile WRX with lots of service history although no proof of cam belt change I could find.
Or do I need a specialist - there are two local garages I trust entirely with 'normal' cars but Imprezas aren't 'normal' are they?
Also wheel refinish suggestions? (Alloys OK but odd scuff, and would look much better gold - car is dark blue metallic).
Thanks.

Before you go spending your money....
If that car has done 60K miles then it should have had a new cambelt at 50K miles which is still pretty early in the car's life and it should only just have had a service, or about to. If you cannot find evidence of a cambelt change walk away. If it hasn't got a full Subaru dealer or Subaru specialist service history and with only 60K miles on the clock walk away!!
You say it has loads of......well it should be full service history with no gaps at all. IMHO nothing else will do. There is no excuse for a scooby with only 60K miles not to have a full service history and that may be an indication of how the car has been treated as bullet proof as they are!!
Whenever you buy a used car regardless of it's service history you are taking a chance as even a full service history is no guarantee the car has been treated well, however if there are gaps in the service history to me it would be ringing alarm bells and i would be walking away.
What year is it and how many owners from new??

2002, 60,000 miles, 3 owners - yes history is full . . . by 'loads of' I meant all the invoices, old MoTs, etc - but even among that lot I couldn't find cambelt change. Looks unmolested although boot carpet suprisingly worn.If that car has done 60K miles then it should have had a new cambelt at 50K miles which is still pretty early in the car's life and it should only just have had a service, or about to. Prefer one owner but if everything else is right including price COULD be OK.
If it has a full service history then the cambelt should have been done and there will be an item for that on the garage invoice. Have a look at the service stamp to see which garage did it and call them up. Maybe the old MOT's tally up if they were done at the same garage.
Car been swapped every 2yrs is not out of the oridnary so it might be OK. Don't pay any more than £5K though even if it's immaculate, Prefer to pay £4K - £4.5K and they need to include a 12mth warranty with it (read the smallprint), don't accept 3mths warranty as that isn't worth sh!t and if they say you have to buy the warranty....walk away!!
Remember it's a buyers market and these dealers need to turn cars around to stay in business so make a few demands and see what they say.
Good luck with it!!
