I've been looking to see if I can find a nice pre-cat Griff at sensible money but not many about at the moment so what could have been a Christmas pressie could be a New year (late though!) pressie to myself if I can find one ...

Careful now! You could get burnt!

Hello, I thought I'd just pop over from the S forum and say I'm thinking of replacing with a Chimaera in a couple months. Mainly due to where I live...the roads aren't brilliant and I believe a Chimaera would give me more ground clearance and a less harsh ride! Plus I'd like more power than the S3, a V8S is possible I suppose.

So do you think I'll be disappointed? Is this the right move?

PS what sort of power would you expect with a 450 with "a 218 Hybrid Camshaft fitted with high rev lifters and vernier timing, the cylinder heads were also replaced for v8 developments stage 3 heads."???

Thanks guys!

I know its sad! I've had the S for 12 years now and I still love it to bits but I've always wanted a Griff so decided I need to have a good look and try some to see what I think or I will for ever wonder if I should have gone for one. I did try a Chim a couple of weeks ago ("the sensible option") but it did nothing at all for me so maybe a Griff will be the same who knows? There are certainly not many decent pre-cat Griffs about so maybe it won't happen - if that is the case no probs as the S is still very enjoyable but sometimes I need to scratch the itch and its now or never...

This could be relevant, personal choice at the end of the day though.

The question is, Chris, what were you doing in the Griffith and Chimaera forums to rumble these defectors? hehe

I know, I know, I'm a fine one to talk... getmecoat

Someone has to keep things in line!

No tbh I've asked a few questions about power steering & V8's over there from time to time.

Thanks for the link Ken - its almost exactly where I am. I suspect it'll all come to nothing as I can't really justify a large budget based on what miles I will do in it so finding one may be hard particularly as the best colour (red of some sort probably!) is not common in Griffs which nearly all seem to be blue for some reason. In the meantime I'm getting the bits for the annual S service and the days are slowly getting longer (OK trying to convince myself here ...) ....
