Possible Life Changing Decisions??

As I finished my degree last year (Automotive Technology), I got offered a job in a testing lab for a company that makes railway fastenings. My thinking was - A job for now is better than searching for ages for one in the automotive industry.

I took the job and the company is currently turning down work and having to send it abroad. Right now I'm thinking - Crikey Charlie that was a close one!

Anyone else escaped lightly from this one?

I admit it was an incredibly lucky escape. Not so bad for the young uns who gradated but I have a wife, child and mortgage.

Yeah, it's a global company with the labs based in Worksop but with "outlets" all over the world. Not quite asreliant on the UK economy.

The lucky thing is that - although I have no real interest in the railways in general, the day to day job is exactly the bland of activities I want.

I quit a well paid job that was pretty much recession proof, with around 18 months guranteed work. I'm now back at college

It's sure changed my life, haven't decided if it's for the better yet. Ask me in 10 years time
