Finally got mine on the road!
Discussion
Well, I picked my Ro vxr up about 10 days ago, but have just had it stashed in the garage ever since, as I've been waiting to sell my Mitsi 3000Gt, before I put the Ro on the road. That way I can xfer my no claims bonus.
Anyway, sold the 3000Gt on Sunday, so got the Ro insured yesterday and took it out for a run. Fantastic, what a monster! Mine's got the Wortec Performance Pac and headers and it sound like Thor. Love it. I even got a cheer from a bunch of lads as I drove past.
Drove it into work this morning and I got a very creditable 23.7mpg. That's no worse than the 3000GT. So, all in all, very chuffed. Hopefully she won't blow up on me...

A bit O/T I know, but I just don't get the English insurers... My NCB is applied to all my policies; why shouldn't it be? It shows I am a reduced risk, that doesn't increase because I have more than 1 vehicle

Its just another way for the B**stards to extract more cash from you.
Glad to hear you're out on the road chap! I've found the car does attract a lot of attention, but it's all been very good natured for me so far. I probably get the same amount of glances as I did with the VX220. I see the quick Vauxhall as champions of the people. I'm not sure more expensive and exotic metal would get such a good reaction. If I was in something Italian I'd be expecting the worst I reckon.
Slightly awkward with kids doing the "What have you had it up to?" thing as I drive like an old woman.

I know, its insane. I can only drive one car at a time. How am I gonna crash one I'm not even in? The system sucketh....so what's new?
While your driving one, someones nicking the other.IMO, the driver needs insurance, not the vehicle. Vehicles dont cause damage without a driver.

And while they are driving it with NO insurance....YOUR insurance will still cough up whtn they crash, causing you to be out yet more money.

Except when they roll backwards down a hill and derail a train

You seem to have a spookily similar car history to me, as I had a vx220 as well. Were/are both your cars black?
Hi chap, did you have an NA (superior handling) or a tubby (name says it all
? The perpetual arguments over their respective merits on vx220.org.uk used to crack me up, I used the same user-name on there. Were you a member? I still frequent there occasionally. I've even taken the Monaro on a VX meet just for kicks.
I had a Rab Red NA for just over two years. I don't have the time, money and space to justify two fun cars sadly. I sold the VX a couple of months after getting the ro. Performance through light weight to performance by pounding the laws of physics into submission, what can I say, I fancied a change.
Despite all the bits that fell off, the 220 was a cracking car. I'd have another some day, but not as an everyday car again. Although I've fond memories of holding the engine cover open with my head whilst putting shopping in the back.
I sold my car to a dealer, and in a funny twist of fate it was bought by someone that lives about a mile away from me. I'm in contact with the chap and he's been posting up pictures of him doing the car up, looks most impressive. New suspension, interior etc. I keep meaning to pop over and take a look
Some blog info for my VX220 is available via my PH profile. I've also kept full tabs on the Monaro's running costs there if you're interested.
