MK 1 Stability

Smashed my Tuscan recently. Mine defiantly got a wobble on just before I totaled it.

Since then I've been reading up on various reports of instability on Tuscan MK 1 at speed.

What are the thoughts on this, and the difference between the Tuscan MK 1 and Tuscan MK 1 'S' in terms of set up and stability?

With a standard MK 1, is it just a question of re-alignment, or is an upgrade to new shocks an essential?

My Mk 1 (2000) Tuscan was 6 years old when I got her and as experienced by many, was a bit scary, not only at speed but in the wet and tram lining etc.
I had new alloys, new shocks and geometry set up all at the same time and she became a completely different car. Much more enjoyable driving and much more consistant "limits".
It was definitely money well spent.

Suspension pick up points were revised in 2001 as many experienced stability issues especially with the 18" wheels. Geometry set up was also changed, I had the geometry changed several time on my 2000 MK1, both with original suspension set up and with Nitrons. It was a very stable car eventually. Don't know about the MK1 Tuscan S, but MK2 Tuscan S with the Sagaris Bilstein set-up is even better IMO.

I have had Gaz Golds fitted to my present car - transformed the handling million times more confident now !

Had a 2001 Tuscan S, supposedly with the revised set-up. It was markedly improved by a set of Gaz shocks. Much more confidence inspiring after the change. Don't know how it compares to the Mk 2 though (never driven one). Not sure what your budget is, but the Mk 2 can be had for mid 20's now. Even the S...
