Mornin'

What made you chose your current car?

At the moment i'm only in a position to simply dream about owning some of the exotica that floats around peoples garages on here but, I am working on it!

So would very much like to hear owners stories of why they chose the current supercar they have now, whether it was an impulse buy or something they had planned and saved for?

Thanks folks.
Merry Xmas too.biggrin

F355.

My Dad took me into a showroom (Strattons in Wilmslow, where they had a brand new black 328). Subsequently planned and saved since childhood.

Have now ticked a life box and worth every penny.

Bit of an impulse buy, but it's a rare model and the offer to purchase it was too good to pass by.

As a teenager I had the classic Athena pictures of a red Testarossa & a white Countach on my bedroom wall. I've always wanted both. Much later when I could afford one I wanted a F355 as this was newer and smaller than a Testarossa. I went to the dealer to look at a red 355 and fell for a black 550M... cloud9

Went for a test drive to see if it was as good to drive as it looked.

Unfortunately the sun was beating down, the starter motor whirred and the demo car fired up and it did indeed do all the things we wanted it to do

Saw "The Spy Who Loved Me" as a kid and wanted an Esprit ever since! (with submarine option and anti-helicopter missiles) Got one about 5 years ago biggrin

My brother made a kit when we were kids of a Countach and I love Lambos ever since. They are *the* halo car to me this side of £1/4 mill adn nothing else can touch them for 'it factor' (this is evidenced to me every time I drive my car.) ...so when I had an opportunity to get either a Countach or Diablo I HAD to go for it... My heart will ALWAYS beat for a Countach but I am a speed freak so had no logical choice but the Diablo (I figured I have the Esprit for my insane 80's supercar wedge fix!)

Did you marry a tennis player as well?

Impulse! I was reading a colleagues car magazine on the train, saw a picture and decided I had to have one. Placed the order without seeing in the flesh or test driving and have not looked back smile

I've been a petrolhead since I was a toddler (according to my parents). After seeing a picture of a Countach around 1974 (I was about 7), it was the car I dreamed of owning one day, but never really thought I would. I've loved them over every other car ever since. I didn't even manage to see one in the metal until I was in my twenties (not many around in rural Somerset smile ). I turned 40 a couple of years ago, and started looking seriously into whether it was actually viable to own one after all. After researching the potential costs, I decided that, being sensible and reasonable, it wasn't viable, and I couldn't really afford one. So I said fk it, and bought one any way. I'd never even driven one until the day it was delivered. For my first drive of a Countach to actually be in my very own Countach was a truly incredible feeling. The day I viewed it was only the 2nd time I'd ever even sat in one, the first being at a show about 2 months before. I fully intend to keep it for ever and can't see any way I'll ever regret buying it. Probably be paying for it for ever too, but so what? You only live once etc.
I did entertain having a Diablo, but knew it would'nt really be achieving my dream: If I'd bought a Diablo, I'd still want to own a Countach one day.

fell in love with the sound of two side by side decat 355s at an early Vmax, guys were caining them silly off the start line & they sounded incredible (even today) & I soooo wanted that sound, sadly the guys driving them were the same reason I decided I could never own a Ferrari & be comfortable, so I needed a car with a Ferrari V8 but without the image problem, hence the Maserati biggrin (no offense intended to other Ferrari owners, I know your not all like that smile)

Have wanted (& will have) a Lambo ever since the poster thing to (I did get the poster girl though biggrin)

Just scratched the Integrale itch too cloud9

Always wanted a 355 spider as a child....saved up got lucky and then purchased on form graypaul with a stomach full of butterflies....

then after 3 yrs you get greedy... was always pulling over for Subarus, RS6's and had seen the 575 in Bad Boys 2 and thought - that looks good...so that was the next progression.... but after a year missed the chuckability of a small sports car in the country lanes...and sat behind a galardo one afternoon as it disappeared in a cacophony of noise ...and well - here we are !!!! Chose the SE as its very rare has an unmatchable spec in normal my06 models onwards and the hadling is sublime .... and to be honest its almost impossible to move on from this one - maybe adn LP560-4 - but they are too expensive in my opinion for the marginal improvements they offer over the old one ... IMHO.... unless anyone wants to give me the money for a pagani??? PLease ???? Anyone ? Lol...

I had always wanted a Ferrari and had promised myself I would do it as soon as funds permitted. While viewing and testing various 355s last year one dealer also had an Esprit Sport350. That test drive made me change direction yes

Couldnt find a Sport350 here so ended up with a close equivalent, Esprit V8 with Sport350 wheels and ECU. As much fun and years younger than a real 350.
To be honest there are not that many cars that have a 'look' that would tempt me to change, except maybe one day, a Diablo.
