"And now on BBC1, a programme in which we're going to patronise you and tell you off soundly for even thinking about eating traditional Christmas fayre. Stop and think for a bit. You can't do that. Some boring nerd of researcher has said it's soooo full of salt. Mountains of Sodium Chloride. It's bad for you. You have no will of your own and you'll do exactly as we tell you. So stay healthy and consume NO CHRISTMAS DINNER AT ALL. Auntie Beeb will be watching you. We will not be watching the boring nerd of a researcher who will be sanctimonious hypocrite and tuck into their turkey & trimmings anyway."

"Viewers in Scotland will have their own programme.

Sorry Beeb, but I'm afraid you're mistaking me for someone who actually gives a censoredk!

Why don't they just brand it 'Guardian TV' and be done with it?

I couldn't be sure of this, but isn't salt being terribly bad for you a bit debatable anyway, I'm sure this on a previous PH thread somewhere?

I believe that the only thing the medical profession can say with any certainty about salt intake is: "If you don't eat enough, you die". All the ranges and limits seem to be very "finger in the air", e.g. A commonly quoted 'good' range is 5-7 grams per day, with many recommending less. But, if you unlucky enough to get put on a saline drip in hospital, you'll be on 9!

nuts

Still, you know, be afraid and all that! thumbup

Go back to sleep britain, your government has your interests all under control.

Here's some cheep booze we dont want you to have (yeah right) while you watch 157 channels of 'strictly a celebrity get me out of x-factor' for the rest of your lives.

Socialists are a bit like teachers arent they, always behaving as if they know whats best for us.
