Anyone got any idea how to do it? I have some long slim nails and some shorter 2-3" alan keys, pushed them in, I can hear them 'click' but can't seem to get enough pulling power to remove the stereo.

I even tried taking parts of the passenger side foot well trim off and push on the back of the unit, but to no joy.

Anyone .... please

I wanted to wire in my new MP3 connector cable but can't get passed the simplest bloody step!

I used four bits of welding rod to release the catches, then a screwdriver wrapped in sparky tape to lever out the head unit.

spot on - used 4 sections of a thick coathanger, poked them in til they click then lever out the unit with a flathead screwdriver each side

Well I did google this on the site and found no results, no combination of remove stereo and tools brought me any results that were of use, hence asking. I did get the pictures of someone working on a GTO with the tools, but I wanted to know how to remove it without, which didn't come back in the results.

Would you like to shed the same information on to myself or simply leave me in the dark.

Excellent informative post by the way. NOT.

Me - "I have cancer, can you help"

Helpful Steve "Someone asked me yesterday for the cure for cancer too, I gave it to them."

I'm going to get myself off to Half'frauds this afternoon, I tried using some long straight nails (9" and the coat hanger trick but neither appeared to hit the spot.

I will have to try it with a proper removal 'thing' as I almost pulled the facia off last night.

Oops

Thanks for all the replies guys.

You can also make the "tool" with a wire coat hanger smile

Yeah, it is pretty easy... just need some thin'ish wire, and you are sorted. Actually think I have one lying around somewhere that I used. If you wanted to, just give me a yell, and can give you a hand..

I asked about this a couple of days ago on another thread as I needed to do it myself. I got four pieces of 10 guage (welding) rods and shove them into each hole until they clicked. Then putting a little sideways force on the rods pulled the unit clear. Dead easy and did not need to use a screwdriver.

I couldn't write more than I did the other day - Mrs M-J was going to hit the PC's OFF button!! And had loads to deal with at my client's before Christmas.

I've got some removal tools (£1 for CPC IIRC) they are either in my briefcase or in my desk/toolbox on my desk at work.

I'll send them to you if you want - it will be a day or so until I'm back on here though, assuming they are handy. You can post them back in the New Year. I don't know if the schedule suits, butI'll be eating (even more) and consuming barin solvent soon :-)

Hope this helps
