New Xbox - old files?
Discussion
I was looking to get a replacement xbox as I have one of the earlier ones which doesn't have an HDMI output. I was going to get the 60gb hard drive version. but am wondering how I can transfer all my game saves etc to the new drive. Did a search but it looks like you need a transfer cable that only comes with the bigger drive when bought separately? Would it be possible to copy with a memory stick/portable hard drive?
Also can I transfer my Forza downloads (car packs etc) or are they lost as I read that these are registered to your xbox?

Ah right, that makes sense!
If your monitor has a spare VGA or DVI input you can run a VGA cable from the x-box, which will set you back about £15. Otherwise, if your only available input is HDMI you could get a VGA to HDMI converter, for about £40 along with a VGA cable.
Both options significantly cheaper than a new X-Box, but if you really want a new box then the answer to your original question is that you can buy a transfer kit to copy the drive contents onto a PC, then back onto the new xbox. An additional £10 on top of the new xbox price!
