Can anyone help please
Just started the car today & "BANG"

what the hell was that.

Engine running but missing & blowing

Had a look under the bonnet, now I am
no mechanic ,but the plastic cover on
top of the engine has cracked & its blown
one of the conecting pipes off.

Can anyone advise, just how bad & expensive
might this be.

Its booked in to a grange next Mon 29th.

By the way is the any way of towing these
cars from the front ???

I remember a thread a while ago about someone who had the same thing.

As for towing, there is a towing eye behind the front number plate, it's not visible until you are at ground level.

Inlet manifold has cracked & shouldn't be too expensive, just may be difficult to source at the moment, try Noble Motorsport when they are open again. Also need to try and find out why it happened, was it on start up or when running when it blew?

its many years ago but my 911 turbo did exactly the same thing .i did know it was a problem but didnt fit the after market pop off valve.looks a bit like a toilet seat stuck in the inlet.maybe it would be wise if one of these can be made to fit the noble.i still have the porsche pop off valve as i sold the car before it turned up.mine is a 2.5 so my inlet is alloy only good thing over the 3.0.think you will only need to change the inlet though

Thia has happened before, a mixture of fatigue and a misfire, remember the manifold is a standard plastic ford item never designed for pressurised use.
A new manifold from ford and you're sorted (hopefully).

Had exactly the same thing happen to me, turned out to be as simple as re - attaching the Vacuum Pipe.

Hadnt turned the car over for a couple of weeks then when i did, was followed by a very large bang. Once re - fitted, was fine.

This happened to me too.. same thing, on start-up. It was an inlet manifold failure, maybe precipitated by a misfire. I had the engine checked over by Roush to be sure and had a new manifold fitted (plus a coil, which was damaged underneath). No problems since then. Roush put it down to failure of the manifold.. which is a Ford part (and plastic).

Roush (now Revolve) told me they hold stock of the manifold, so maybe try them if you have problems sourcing one.

Intake manifold YL8E-9424-CD: £200 + VAT
[cheaper than direct from Ford, by the way]

Shocking when it happens isn't it? It's rather a large bang.

yeah i changed mine over to a 2 litre to help save the planet
