We drove up to Edinburgh in the Monaro today and apart from a detour through Buxton for something (see pic below of the sun out in the Derby Dales ) it was all motorway stuff.

We averaged 77mph and 27.1mpg.

Now that ain't half bloody bad!

That road between Buxton and Whaley Bridge over the Dales is superb...absolutely superb.
And today it was quiet as a mouse.

I had a lad on a Honda Transalp behind me for a bit of it but he gradually got left behind - suspect it was his lack of desire to keep up rather than my driving though

We may have to go back that way on the way home...

Nice one! I get really narked when someone makes the usual comments about gas guzzlers with big engines. That is only 4mpg average less than I just got from my Volvo V70R AWD on the 230 mile jaunt north to John O' Groats today, sitting at a steady 60mph for the most.

Cool

I must clarify that the avg didn't include the Buxton loop (ahem)

Nige thats my old stomping ground! Did you see the Top Gear proving an M3 was more efficient than a Prius on its petrol engine!?

I did indeed.
Not entirely sure about the logic but I'm unable to put up a cohesive counter argument.

Very good, mine is just over 23mpg frown currently. Though I hope to squash it up to 24mpg with more tuning.

Yeah not bad. Lots of motorway in there though.

Look like 2mpg worse than my old stock setup
