I have to have a little Rant, after reading a topic on here which mentioned a Ferrari 355 replica, based on the MR2, I genuinely believe that all replicas should be covered in petrol by their owners and burnt

Amazingly, the replica looks nothing/sounds like the real car, infact, after witnessing a couple of these horrific examples in my home town I can not believe when I owned my ferrari, some, jealous, pathetic, bonehead idiots actually used to shout MR2 when I drove past, obviously these sort of people are oxygen thiefs and suck up as much money off the state as possible!

They really do make my blood boil, I believe the 355 is one of the most beautiful cars ever produced and really think that the "replica" ferrari should be abolised permanately.

If the replicas looked a at last "something" like the real thing then maybe they would be acceptable, but the SHOCKING INTERIORS, SHOCKING PAINTWORK AND SHOCKING DIMENSIONS are tragic and truly awful!

SADLY I HAVE SOLD MY FERRARI BUT I FEEL SORRY FOR THOSE WHO STILL OWN SUCH AN AMAZING, STUNNING CAR AND HAVE TO PUT UP WITH SEEING THESE RIDICULOUS CARS FLOATING ABOUT EVERY SO OFTEN.

I would just like to see whether or not others agree with my thoughts or am I being a bit harsh?

Do they not do proper replicas based on a custom space frame like the old countach replicas? I've only noticed MR2 type ones mentioned. Was the Fiero also used?

Yuletide Felicitations to everyone as we say in Glasgow, but if we are accepting rants, then before we burn the replicas, can we start burning nissan micras?? And in particular can we start with the pink cnvertable ones??
Whilst I would never advocate voilence agaisnt people who have bought them, wouldnt it be a good idea to shread their licences so they can never have that dilema:- car?? nissan micara???
Ohhh and can we make it compulsary for middle lane dwadlers on motorways to be the subject of a 1 year crackdown by traffic cops who would have the power to burn those peoples cars at the side of the road as a warning to others?
Finally!!! Can we have more Wallace and Gromit on TV!
Love to ( nearly) all.

Caring what insult some green eyed stranger shouts at you and your car is a separate issue to people trying to make normal cars look like 355s.

The real thing is the real thing. You were driving the real thing. The strangers can .... off back to the hole they crawled out of.

DAZ smile

PS - Back on topic I don't believe fake cars should be allowed and share similar thoughts with fake watches.

One parks around the corner from my house quite often. I would like to take a baseba...well change its shape slightly.

I went to view an mr2 the other week and the owener was telling me that a guy down the road has one with ferrari kit thats turbo'd so it is quicker than ferraris.

I am very annoyed at myself as I kept a straight face and didn't say anything.

I am far more concerned about the cheap tat merchandise that Ferrari put their logo on.

This cheapens the "brand" more than a few people trying to make replicas.

That isn't a replica. It is a body kit. I don't see the point in them either, they are a lot of money to get a car that won't handle or even sound anything like the original. If you want something that just looks like the original, buy a poster.

There are cars like mine, built with custom components on a custom chassis, that are quite like the now almost impossible to get original. I still don't like to call my car a replica, it is more of a "tribute" really. I drive a 3 year old car that looks, handles and sounds just like a 70's icon but uses modern components and is easy and cheap to service.

Few cars exist that are close enough to the original that I would call them a true replica. They do exist though, and to tar them with the same brush as a ropey body kit seems a bit harsh.

Due to the level of disgust in the OPs post, I guess it is a good idea not to post this ink then.

Please don't browse to the gallery where they refer to their replicas as actual models...

Is it wrong that I actually like Stratos and the Dino replicas?? I know that Hawk cars that produced some of the Stratos replicas have produced panels to put on the few surviving cars.

The F40 is the funniest though!

I dont see why replicas should bother you so much? I presume you owned the 355 because you liked driving it and not because you wanted other people to see that you have a ferrari.

The same goes for fake rolex's, as long as you dont get cheated into buying a fake one why do you care if someone else is wearing a fake rolex.
