At one stage I looked at getting a GT3 box. The guy pulled out of the deal before the deposit was cashed, so it never happened. However:
Richard at the factory didn't know if it would fit, as they are different from normal Getrags. I reckon it would in theory as my research said it derived from the G50 fitted to the 993GT2. But the factory needed to see it (or pics of it) and couldn't give a 'yes' straight off. They also didn't know whether the cable shift was long enough etc but I'm sure you could sort something.
It is normal shifting, not sequential.
Biggest pitfall is that it might not fit, it might be a bugger to install and it costs a lot. The one I looked at was to be sold for 4k orginally, I bartered down to 2k, but I have since sourced a G50/10 for 800 GBP. So it would still have been expensive in comparison.
Yes, it's a good strong box, with LSD etc. I liked the idea, but don't regret that it fell through for me.

I have a 6 speed GT3 box (not in my Ult)... it is an identical stud patern to the G50 which is standard fit in an Ultima and many owners have used the GT3 clutch in their G50 box.
This is the same box as fitted to the GT2 and in indurance racing they handle over 600ft,lb of torque.
Oh and they are cable change like the Getrac box, so it really is the Ultimate box to go for, very strong with a lovelly change.
Not cheap though and most of them will be from cup race cars.... not a problem unless they have had the diff changed to suit the 8500rpm screaming GT3 race engine and whilst good for 200mph in the race car, will only give you around 150mph in your Ultima.
You will also have to fabricate your own gearbox mounts but at least you can use the Porsche starter as its on the gearbox side al la G50.
