Now then everyone, my Mum's got a 2003 SLK230 and my Dad bought her a new CD Player for Christmas (the standard one doesn't play MP3 CDs and the sound's not very good on it).

The problem is; I told them I'd fit it and it should be a doddle, I just need to work out how to remove the current one, I'd accept that people might not want to explain how to do it on a public forum, so if you're happier sending me a PM that'd be great, my old man doesn't want to have to fork out the cost of the CD Player again to AudioIsland or Halfrauds to have it fitted.

The current CD Player she has is the Audio 10 CD, and I've taken a couple of pictures for reference. I tried undoing two screws either side of the cup holders (at the top), but this didn't seem to do anything and there are two holes behind the vents where I think there should probably be screws, so I'm a bit stuck...

I'd be grateful for any advice anyone could give me on getting the standard CD Player out please,

Cheers,

AL

Can't answer your question, but you could also try over on the R170 section of one of the MB forums such as ....

There are two slots by the knobs.
Merc make a slide in tool to remove it. ( IIR, I googled them and then made my own. )
Either do that, buy them or offer a drink to the local Merc man.

Are they the two slots in the buttons in each bottom-right corner? Got a picture or number for the specific tool I need please?

You need special keys to remove that you can buy on ebay for a couple of quid then it just slides out and a standard ISO connector on the back.

No worries, it's solved now, formed a replacement for the keys, put a better stereo in and all is well. Cheers for the replies!
