Apparently DFS are having a sale.
Personaly I cannot think of a worse way to spend your Boxing day, looking at overmarked tat which is then drastically reduced to a more realistic price in order to make it look like you are getting a bargain, when of course you are getting the price that should be displayed all year round

Annoying thing is I need some new clothes but I want decent stuff and am faced with the prospect of battling for a parking space and fighting through crowds of zombies which is my own fault for not doing it before now but christ what a peculiar past-time some people have.
I might go down to Bicester Village actually - only been there once and couldn't believe how far out they were queuing for a Saturday morning in March.

DFS has a simple business model - they mark up everything by a load then when they realized they're not selling anything, they have a sale. As you noticed they have a permanent sale because they don't sell a lot. This sale gets better at this time of year and this is when they take most of their yearly money.
Traditionaly; today we will be visiting our relatives this year, as we have done so since time began

I couldn't think of anywhere worse to go today than a "retail park" *shudder*Just bought some jars for coffee beans from John Lewis and some new bath towel from M&S. The internet is a godsend.
We had then in & out laws round yesterday for our first Christmas playing hosts. Today is going to be just MrsR and I resting and maybe a wonder round the lake on the way to the pub. Have a good day with the relatives.
Is that the newfangled energy efficient stuff?bloody hell, can't people manage to take a couple of days off without thinking about money? Where we are in the southern Med, all of the foreign TV chanels we have been watching (German, Italian, French etc) have been showing events related to Christmas, so it's been really nice. We've been flicking over to Sky news/BBC every now and again and all they are talking about are the shopping sales, WTF?. By comparison, the lack of any Christmas culture shown by the UK broadcasters is very sad and you really notice it when you are abroad and see it side by side with what's on offer on the continent.
Over here, everybody was out yesterday and today, no shops open whatsoever - only cafes & restaurants giving people time to socialise throughout the day and truly relax. It will be the same here until Monday and then another 4 days the following weekend
