Christmas day proposals

I had one friend of mine propose to his then Girlfriend a few years ago on Christmas day and thought nothing really of it. Then a few more did it and I thought it was all becoming a bit obvious. Then guess what, I was sitting on the sofa yesterday thinking "My best mate has been seeing his Mrs for year now. Oh oh". Well then almost instantly I got a text off my mate "Me and the Mrs are engaged"! Is it just me or is proposing on this once religious, now commercial holiday a bit boring and cliché. In my yearning to be different I'll probably propose at 13:15 on a Wednesday lunch time or something equally stupid. Apologies to any PHers who've done the Christmas day thing (congratulations really!) guess it's just not my style.
I did it yesterday! Best christmas pressie ever (to myself) it is a little cliched but it was still special to us. We don't really go into the whole christmas thing much and my partner has never enjoyed this time of year.
But we both really enjoyed this and its very special to us (obviously)
So, yes, cliched but don't really care! I'm still on cloud nine.

Its less cliche than New Year's Day and that other one where people get all soppy... Can't think what its called, its never ever mentioned on TV.EDLT said:

Wow. The romance... Morning breath, sweaty bedsheets, her half-asleep stupor. Glorious

engagement proposals are made as a last ditch attempt to salvage a christmas where the bloke hasnt been able to buy a decent gift. I know, I done it to a few now

I don't feel half as bad about my screw up now, I hadn't thought of proposing. A mate of mine proposed to his missus on Christmas day 2 years ago, when asked why he said 'Just to shut her up'.
