S Series- Novice buyer
Discussion
Hi All
I am thinking of buying an S Series TVR- I am new to the sports car arena and would like to know any special faults to look out for when purchasing. Also it would be great if anyone knows of a suitable car I could look at- I want to spend no more than c.£4500.00
Thanks for looking and a Happy New Year!

Read the buyers guide at http://www.tvrsseries.com for important info.
What to look for depends on how handy you are with spanners - personally I would check the chassis, then the chassis again, and then finally the bits of the chassis I didn't check first time, especially the sill tupes, and the front and rear outriggers to the sill tubes.
Don't want to put you off, because most of them have no problems. If there IS a chassis problem, though, it can get complicated. Everything is fixable, but a chassis restoration immediately after buying could be ever so slightly off-putting.
Best bet would be to take someone with you who knows the cars well.

There is no harm in going to your local TVRCC meet and having a word with some of the members many of whom will have owned an S at some time - they may know of one that is worth looking at locally. If you do get one you may want to join the TVRCC anyway as it is a good introduction to the marque. Good luck with the search.
