Please don't ever again ride in jeans, the way they are constructed can cause nasty blisters in the nether regions.

There are plenty of mailorder specialists that can fulfill your needs for kit, Evans, Parker International, Geoffrey Butler, etc.

Quite honestly, it is a bit early in the regime to think of specialist drinks. A good all round diet is all that is required, less that 2000 cals per day. Once you have become used to riding again, there are specific things you can do to lose weight.

So long as you are not diabetic, or subject to low sugar levels, you could try riding first thing with little or no food intake. The body burn its fat to provide the fuel to the muscles. This should be attempted carefully and over short distances.

You don't need specialist drinks or anything. A banana in a pocket, and a bottle of water (flavoured if you like) is all the body needs. If you want help building muscle, eat a piece of chicken when you're back home.

In aberdeen you've got the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op and Alpine Bikes.

Theres a big sale on at EBC after New year so pop down then, there'll be a lot of clothing going cheap.

You really dont need any form of energy drink, if you'd told us you were doing 300+ miles a week then ok. Save your money, invest in a nice saddle, some padded shorts, and some waterproof socks. At a stretch i'd plump for some muscle rub, try 'Hot stuff' from CRC.

+1

Even when your into riding regular, only do set routes i.e. 10/15 miles to work or a circuit at your local park. DONT (like i've done in the past) go wondering off cause fuel starvation (I think i mean that) can hit in an instance and kick you right in the balls... not nice.

But hey enjoy and dont where your bloody jeans... wear some late 80's early 90's lycra!

I have a 3l camelbak I use unless I'm only off out for 30-60min.

So drink ~1l an hour and if your out for an hour/1.30 or more snack on something (muslie bar, bannana etc).
