Connecting ipod to home stereo

Hope you are all having a nice Christmas

Over the last few days I've realised I'm changing Cds every hour or so when I know all my preferred playlists are on my ipod.

So, is there an docking attachment I can buy that plugs into the stereo and hey presto, ipod tunes playing through the stereo? Been meaning to sort this little issue out for ages now.

Ipod is a 'classic'
Stereo is a Denon UD-M31

Any reccomendations?

Mods, move this please if I've got the wrong section.

if your anal, sorry meant an audiophile then do it via a dock based cable/solution as the signal will be purer ie not using the ipod internal amp (plus that way could use a Ipod remote to control)

I have a cable which connects mine (through inputs to stereo) rather than docking station or 3.5mm (same with the car) from ebay if I remember correctly. Stops the problem of volume conflicts and better sound quality.

I am looking for a permanent solution ie rig a docking station type thing and then just pop the ipod in when needed and play it through the stereo (I'm guessing through the aux channel)

If you want to keep it single just get the Apple dock & remote. that way you dont have to cross the room to change song. Otherwise im sure lots of high SQ/high feature solutions about for the price

Keeping with the audiophile theme, remember to turn off the iPod's equaliser (if you have it on) before you plug it into the stereo.

My brother used his mini-radio transmitter that he usually uses to play an ipod on his car stereo whilst all at our parents today. Sounded ok but hardly an audiophile solution, but did allow the music to continue whilst I fixed the CD player.

Aah, that's news to me. I use one of those ipod docks in the car (FM transmitter type). Should I be turning off the ipod equaliser for that?

Why not try a Squeezebox? I went from light ipod/mp3 use, to 100% MP3. CD's are now ripped at a high resolution or tracks downloaded at a high resolution (not itunes). Squeezebox is a neat solution - nothing on display other than a small screen.....

You can also get Airtunes. It allows you to pipe your iTunes library into a music system. You can control it wirelessly via an iTouch too.

Wadia IDock into a DAC is the Ultimate I suppose. If you use the Musical Fidelity V-DAC then it would come in under £500.
