In recent years I've seen reports of the carcinogenic effect of Acrylamide found in over-cooked starchy foods such as crisps, chips and even the crust of bread.

And then there's recent reports that Sodium Nitrite commonly used as a preservative in processed meats can cause bowel cancer.

I do believe in "everything in moderation" and don't rigidly avoid the above though I have, sadly, cut down on my bacon intake.

Does anybody have any comments on the above and can you share any further information on the carcinogenic chemicals we consume in the western world?

Not a cheery subject I know - but an important one perhaps.

You do realise you'll get cancer from the chemicals in the plastic of your keyboard!

I may have just made that up, but it wouldn't suprise me!

If you're worried about Cancer, I'd go to the docs and get that mole in your name checked out.

Take half a pound of anything and wedge it up the rear of a laboratory mouse - it'll die of cancer.

If you'd bothered to spend a minute reading that short report you would have seen it has nothing to do with cancer, it's to do with market research. The title is misleading

Pretty much my view. Search hard enough and anything will cause death by what ever cause you want. Eat bacon, sausages and cake to your heart's content. Just don't get fat. Remember the old farmers type who eat like a horse and go on until their 90? It's all about your life style not what you eat. Being skinny is bad for you, just as much as being fat is. You just stay a bit warmer if you're fat! hehe
