Bit of help / advice please

Firstly, Xmas Greetings to all!!

I'm sure there has been a post on this before but can't find anything when I try searching therefore have to resort to asking again...........sorry!

Took the car out for a quick spin today - speedo not registering anything at all for the first 10 / 15mins then tried to kick into life and then completely died again for the last part of the 'journey'.

Any suggestions? Knackered sensor or loose connection??

If loose connnection, where do I start looking? I guess behind the pod for starters but where else??

Do you get the analoge side of things or are that and the digial dispay dead...?
Do you have the rev counter working..?

Hi check and clean the sensor that looks at segmented wheel next to diff measure gap before removing it may fix your problem.

Salt of the road has got into the sensor. I had a new sensor put in mine now it wont read 1,2,3,4,5 or 6mph v.weird

Gaffer - All else is working including rev counter but I don't get either an anologue or digital speed reading

Would very much agree with the comments & diagnosis above... Definitely give it a clean first. Replacement will be about £90-100 inc. VAT from memory, plus an hour's labour.

Finally got round to cleaning the sensor a few weeks ago - all seemed well until this weekend when the speedo dropped out a few times.

I think it something to do with the pod/connections behind the pod because at one point, the speedo was trying to work and everytime the pointer moved, there was a cracklign noise from behind the pod.

Any suggestions on what I should be lookign for behind the pod. Ribbon cables loose??
