Hi all,

I've just been browsing around some track day sites to see which ones I want to have a go at this year and I'm quite interested in Spa. One thing I noticed in particular is the noise restriction... There doesn't seem to be one. My car is rather loud, coming in at around 108db at the usual test. I have a great set of track cans which brings this down to acceptable levels for pretty much all UK tracks, but I've always wanted to hear it unleased properly.

First off, does the 'unrestricted' tag on bookatrack.com actually mean as it says it does, or is it more like the 'unlimited' bandwidth my internet provider gives? Secondly, is there a TVR trip over there this year??

Hi Nick, I'm supprised you didn't phone!

Unlimited is usually 130db, and since a TVR V8 with thru pipes can only hit 128...you should be OK.

You car is loud though, possibly due to the FI, but you'll be fine.

There are Noise limits coming in at Spa in 09, so check with the operator. I don't think they are being toooo hot about it so far, as the local econmy is track based but be aware. If the new limit gets enforced its 105 same as here.

Last few times we have been, its been 120db, but I've never seen a noise test in 9 years! They do have drive bys too, but again, no enforcement.

anyway, unlimited means 130.

Andy
We MAY be going back again, depends on Racing...this year the Challenge may take prioity! Cheers.

Thanks for that Andy! I thought it was a little late to ring, and I was only looking after my dad suddenly announced that he wanted to start doing trackdays this year. To start he wants to do Brands Hatch GP and Spa (the easy ones of course!), but he drive a Porsche Cayman S so not sure he'd be allowed on the TVR trips..? Anyway after looking up the distance to Spa, I noticed the high noise limit which got me dreaming of unrestricted hooning! I'm not sure what mine would make unrestricted on the straights, but its pretty much straight through (albeit with cherrybombs) and FI so its pretty loud. Went for a bit of an xmas hoon yesterday and it sounds like an angry nascar cloud9

So anyway Andy if you plan on doing a trip there this year, you have two bookings right there, and for Brands GP if you have any plans for it! Unrestricted would be fantastic, but if not I'd love to do Spa anyway. Need to stick in some harnesses and some track tyres on before then though methinks...

The great thing about TVR trips is that everyone is welcome. Plus a little 'Porsche Hunting' always goes down well!

Ah great, that'd be good if he could come on a couple. Then I can show him just how much faster a supercharged V8 is than his silly German 6 pot biggrin Although I must say it does appear to go around corners quite well, I might just have to scare him into submission with all the noise! shout
