Is there a Engine breather/ vent valve any where on a Monaro? if so I can't find it and when will it need cleaning ? on my old cars they where on the rocker box covers.
Sorry for ignorance again but what is this. Have never heard of it. Should i be doing something to mine?
They definately have one. If its not connected via the rocker covers as suggested it will be via the valley cover. The whole assembly including the valve is strapped to the underside. To get to it you have to remove the inlet manifold. I thought the 5.7l engines had the earlier system. I have an engine manual for the LS1/LS2 i'll double check.
The later design (ie. valley cover) fixed the high oil consumption issues of the rocker cover fed system which had a tendency to ventilate more oil, meaning a catch can was good idea.

Thanks all, the reason I asked was so I could clean the system out at some point. I believe if the system gets blocked up over time you will blow out the oil seals. sounds a bit more difficult to do than I first thought..
The conventional PCV valve arrangement was deleted in 2004. So you can stop looking!

What do you mean by 'conventional'. Must be a crankcase breather somewhere surely...
Yes there is but not PCV valve. Pipe off the r/h rocker cover into the intake pipe and one from the valley plate into the manifold behind the throttlebody. No valve though.
