Fat people on flights
Discussion
Im not fattist, but, Me and the hubby was on a recent flight (without the kids) and decided to recline and get a bit of shut eye when a man started screaming from behind that my husbands chair was squashing the lady behind him. When i turned around the lady was indeed squashed but to be honest i dont know how she had managed to get herself in the bliming seat in the first place. She must have been about 25 stone. My husband spent the next 8 hours sitting upright. Not an isolated case, the following week on another long flight (with the kids) my 3 year old got sat next to a large man who thought it was fair game to lift the arm rest and over take HALF of my sons seat. The poor little sod had the fatties arm resting on his head until my husband had a word with said man and replaced the arm rest.
I know aeorplane seats are small but why should smaller people suffer? and why do they allow them the same luggage allowance as me. I only weigh 7 stone does that mean i can have another 12 stone in luggage allowance.
I hope i havent offended any large people on here I normally find big people very nice and funny. But on a long flight when most of us are crabby anyway they are the ones who annoy me the most..sorry...

sometimes we just have to be tollerant, we're not all the same shape / size, i dont know you but i'm sure there are things you do that inconvienence others - we all do.
i'm 6ft 7 and it's impossible for the person in the seat infront to put it back when i'm behind them - well without breaking the chair or my knees anyway..
and the last flight i took i was 10 stone so no fatty
for me the inconvienence is other peoples kids - i have non, yet i dont say anything on a ten hour flight when the little cherubs get bored..

Even though i have kids i do still cringe when i realise that kids are sat near me on a long flight. I do have kids but they are very well behaved on most flights and if they are not i tell them a big fatty will come and sit on them. Im only joking, i do realise after now posting this that it makes me sound incredibly shallow. Which is not the case. And i too am annoying and inconsiderate at times just ask my husband.
I've never really understood why some people are so quick to recline their seats. Whenever I have put mine back I am marginally more comfortable, yet whenever the person in front does it it makes my journey much less comfortable (I'm only 6ft 1). I don't bother now as I think about the poor sod behind me having his journey ruined so I can be 2% more comfortable.

Pics or stfu. Are you really that lanky?i'm 6ft 7 and it's impossible for the person in the seat infront to put it back when i'm behind them - well without breaking the chair or my knees anyway..

I don't believe that reclining your seat an extra 4 degrees makes your brain any more happy to fall asleep with an ambient noise of 40,000dB. That said, if I wasn't able to put mine back because the person behind was so podgy, i'm not sure i'd have much sympathy. I'm tall, but I don't b

This could open a whole can of PC incorrectness! (which I would fully support BTW!
) however being a public fourum...
You need to allow for different statures and sizes, fat people I mean large people have reasons for being fat, normally medically related ie: icantstopopeninmegob syndrome to name one so lets all exercise some flexibility... after all they to have to to get there rearends into those tiny airline seats.

Fly upper class or business class. Also if its really bad ask the stewardess/steward to move you.
I have always been quite fortunate and never had problems that i can recall flying longhaul. Last flight i had the middle row of seats to myself and on the way back I upgraded to premuim economy . Not all that but got a bigger seat and my own tv so was happy.Did have a family with young kids next to me but they were well behaved and even swapped seats with the dad so he could keep an eye on the kids.

Thank God you didn't tell us what you think about black people......I agree fat people on planes and i do mean fat as in really huge just take the p. They should pay for two seats quite frankly. If i take a kilo more than my allocated baggage i get hammered by the airline but they carry the weight of two people onboard but pay for only one.
Noisy kids/babies are also an issue however i am a fair bit more chilled about them as parents can only control them to a point but a little baby will cry if it wants to thees very little the parents can do.
Tis why i always take my noise cancelling headphones. Let the little buggers make as much noise as they want. I wont hear it.
