Yorkshire Bashing, whats all that about?

So whats all that about?
Iv just watched 'The real Italian Job' with James Martin, thought that it was pretty good but there must have been a good dosen references to being a 'Proper Yorkshire man' and all the other s
t that gets thrown around. I got the same crap the other week on some twunt on an ITV game show....
Im not a stick in the mud by any means but since when did we all become tight gits who would love a free meal? A county of proper salt of the earth people, honest yorkshire folk, miners and simpletons who eat spuds and puddings?!
Are us folk from Yorkshire realy THAT different from the rest of you fellow Englishmen?!

I quite enjoy all the references. Hell, 4 out of 6 British racers or however many that they featured came from Yorkshire, which is a nice advert.
I love it when people mark me out as a Yorkshireman, whether it's through tongue in cheek jokes or out of respect because we all know the greatest characters come from Yorkshire!
Maybe it's just me, but I enjoy it and would rather have that, than just being lumped in as an average Englishman!

I have to say that having driven most of the country, I think Yorkshire people are the nicest most calmest drivers about.

I have literally, just a few minutes ago said goodbye to a long term friend of my wifes and her new BF. He is a southern softy, she emmigrated down there a few years ago and up home for chrimbo.
A nicer chap you could not meet (radio producer for Radio 4) and very fond of the Yorkshireness of his experience. Roast lamb, taties, puddings, too much beer and a springer spaniel breaking wind under the table, t'magic
I love being from Yorkshire reet enough..

....I <reluntantly) moved from the North East to Leeds. In the North East you will not find a more hard working, funny, and friendly set of people in the world.
Yorkshire comes a very close second.
Edit : not sure why I wrote that. Maybe just remembering
