Gen 1, 2 or 3?
Discussion
Baz,
You sure it was a Caterham?? We managed to squeeze a custom built V8 2.9 Ltr into a wide body but it was so tight, sure it was not a Westfield thats more likely as they do do a Rover V8 option???
If it was me in a rod I would go with the Gen III it produces more power for the same fitting agro only down side is likely to be the cost of a GEN III over a Gen II which would my second choice, you would also need the complete ECU from either car to enable the correct sensors.
I have seen one in the US with a Viper power unit in a PT Cruiser with rear wheel drive so I guess anything is possible.

there's been a couple of viper emgine builds over here, getting bits in the UK is practically impossible unless you fall very lucky. One guy brought a rolling chassis with engine from X2builders.com took off what he wanted then sold the un-wanted bits

Cheers guys, it was a lotus style kit car, it wasn't a caterham but that style.
I've been told that the gen 1's aren't desirable, the 2's have forged internals upto 2000 than everything onwards is cast. Cast is good providing you don't wanna tune it too much. I've actually found a roplled ram srt down the road and am convincing the guy to sell me the running gear, he's agreed but we've gotta agree on a price. I've emailed the guys at x2 and they basically sell drop out i=units, everthing you need, power up ecu and add fuel and it'll run which is what I'm after.
For the record, I'm building a morris viper.........
I was after whether either of the gen2 or 3 was better than the other, which is a better tuning base etc etc. Willprob go for the gen 3 ram unit and that should make me poo my pants enough me thinks...........

She's a '53 black splitty, been fully restored and then failed mot on rotten chassis (can't believe thay had eberything done except the chassis) and she should look virtually stock except being low and having vintage slot mags and a louvered bonnet. The open exhausts are going to exit just beind the front wheel thru the wing, nice.......
I've tried searching Photobucket, but unfortunately can't find what I'm looking for... Do you have a Link?
Jeff, are you the owner of the red HotRod just inside the entrance of the Beauliea Motor Museum? I was speaking with the owner of that car a couple of months ago about Viper Engines and sent him in the direction of the Viper Forum here at Pistonheads as he was thinking of using a Viper Engine for a Hotrod project.
