Connecting SKY+ to HD Television

I've just bought a new LCD HD Television and set it all up yesterday. The picture on Sky isn't that good - especially the text is 'fuzzy' round the edges!

I have the Sky box connected by scart. Is there a better way of connecting it to get a better picture?

dunno about that, have sky SD connected to my HD tosh via RGB scart, looks good to me. text is nice and clear.

Maybe sitting too close?

Make sure the SCART connection is set to RGB, if it is then that's as good as you're going to get.

what he said, also, make sure SCART lead has *all* the pins connected (ie. it could be missing RGB component..)

[Sky helpdesk mode] Have you made sure the connections are OK. If you take them out at both ends and remake them, that should improve it [/Sky helpdesk mode]

Mine started playing up a little the other day. Looks like I need a new scart lead, but managed to sort it for now.

Indeed. If it's the cheap black plastic scart that came in the Sky+ box then bin it. Don't go to Currys and get a 'Monster' whatever you do. Get down to Richer Sounds and bosh 20 squid on a nice Cambridge Audio one.

And make sure you're using the RGB scart connection on the tv.

Another vote here for the RGB setting, but if your TV has more than one SCART input, make sure you have it in the RGB capable one...

Seriously, pay the extra £10 a month for Sky HD. The difference between SD and HD sources for live sport is like night and day, and is more than worth the small extra expenditure. Plus, you get all of the same Sky+ functionality as you have at present.

If your tv has component or vga input you could do worse than purchase a JS Technology Scart to vga or component video converter. An advert in AVForums should unearth one for approximately £50.
