Hyperthetical Sky MultiRoom Question

If you pay an extra £10 you get another sky viewing card with all your channels on it.
So, now suppose that your son hyperthetically lives abroad could he take a sky multiroom card and plug it into his sky box in a certain central european country.
Would it work? Would SKY find out and what would happen if they did?

I think the sky contract stats it needs to be plugged into a phone socket for the first year. Then it doesn't. Unless that's changed.
For that first year, sky will allow it to be unplugged for a small fee a month (£3ish i think).
There is no reason why I had to find this out, the uncles place in France doesn't have sky+
The hypothetical dish might need to be a bit bigger though, as the signal gets weaker closer to the equator. standard is 45cm now, so 60cm is best. And it takes longer to find a single, I'd imagine.

Correct, they've sent me a letter a while back telling me they are going to start charging me a full double subscription as the second box wasn't connected to a phone line. Which reminds me, I must run a cable in for it...SBDJ said:

If you want backup, phone up sky pretending to be a new user and say you want sky+ and multiroom, but the second room cant have a phone line. They should offer you a few options. A off plan contract (so no boxes/dish/install) or to pay a penalty to not have a box connected.
I have these calls in my dreams a year ago, about the same time my uncle bought the place. Random they happened so close together.

When the modem on my Sky+ failed I wasn't bothered as it had no effect on my viewing, but I have multiroom and started getting letters from Sky. Finally I had to have it replaced to keep them happy.

Nothing to see here or here, nothing usefulIf hypothetically you were to do something like this, the link above would show the 'footprint' of one of the satellites that Sky use... Not that you'd need to look at that of course.

I don't think so, as this is what it says is on Hotbird 6 I think it needs to be on the same ones as Sky, the links I posted earlier in the thread will tell you which ones they are.maximm said:
Actually having just hypothetically checked with hypothetical family members. They ordered a second sky box and card at UK home address then use it on said island in the med. So the hypothetical bills go to UK address and Sky none the wiser.
This would, hypothetically, be the way to do it. I have several hypothetical friends doing the same. Sky would probably turn a blind eye to it - private domestic use from customers paying their bills is not a massive concern to them. The rules allowing Sky to broadcast to a wider geographic footprint mean they have to police this, albeit gently.Sky boxes do not HAVE to be plugged into a phone line - only if you want to order and pay for a film. I have a couple of Sky boxes at home and two Sky subscriptions - neither has ever been plugged in.
The card has to match the box of course....
