I think I'm getting it a lot recently. Feels like you've just been sick, and your throat gets all hot.

I've never had stuff like this before really, but seem to be getting this a lot. It don't mean I'm old and about to croak does it?

Could it be related to insomnia? Been sleeping badly for the past year or so. Could it be catching up on me?

Yeah it's acid-y type feeling in the back of your throat. I used to get it and it improves with exercise and a balanced diet. How are you, physically?

2 x Rennie or Gaviscon and you'll be fine.

It's another word for acid indigestion.

Its been for minutes, if he replies its heart burn hehe

Try some Gaviscon, had it a few months back for some heart burn during the night and worked a treat. Not had it since. Apparently its normal to get heart burn 2-3 times a month. I thinks its the stomach acid getting back into your esophagus

Acid reflux. Adjust your diet, eat less at one time, or it's a sign of a Hiatus Hernia.

Gaviscon is the everyday remedy.

Avoid pastry.

I used to get that alot, there is a small one-way valve in your stomach that keeps the stomach acid in - it seems mine is faulty biggrin

Anyway, 10mg Omperazole daily (prescription only) and I'm totally fine!

So basically, get yourself along to the GP!

All the best,
Paul

Not being funny, but are you fit? Yes the valve can be weak but it's also related to diet and your fitness. Regular exercise and improved diet will kick it into touch (it did for me)

Ranitidine works for me, Zantac are the big name brand. I buy mine from Wilkinson as it is £1.49 for twelve of their own brand, as opposed to over £4 for Zantac.

I get heartburn occasionally - For me the trigger is acidic things. 2x Rennie usually eases it, but mostly I avoid it altogether by not drinking white wine or spirits excessively.

Are you flirting with me? hehe

I know what you mean, bad diet high fat foods etc all did make it worse but it's still something that reoccurs if I don't take the omeprazole... I slimmed from 13st to 11st and run 5 miles every other night biggrin

You can buy omeprazole over the counter now, though it's much cheaper on prescription. Ranitidine is what you want for immediate relief, omeprazole is what you want for long term control. Neutralising agents like Rennie and Gaviscon are largely a waste of time - they only work for a little while.

I have a hiatus hernia, which means that the sphincter at the top of my stomach doesn't work very well, and allows acid out of my stomach and into my oesophagus, where it burns me. This was diagnosed by sticking an endoscope down my throat. It's not going to go away on its own, and surgery is a last resort only used in extreme cases, but you can reduce the symptoms somewhat - by losing a bit of weight and by avoiding troublesome foods, too much food and alcohol and eating too close to bedtime. That and medication.

I mostly manage it by avoiding foods which anger the Gods Of The Belly. I don't like taking more drugs than I need to. If I get heartburn, or if I've eaten something I know will give me heartburn, I take ranitidine. If I've taken the piss for a few days and have acquired an inflamed and sore gastric tract (typically, holidays, Christmas, etc, too much booze and rich food) I start to suffer even without eating bad things, and I then take omeprazole for a week or two until it calms down.

GASP!

I'm still alive you bds! Picking over my lifeless corpse before I've even shuffled off??! biggrin

I do eat a fair bit of pastry... I love pies, and last night I was round mums and ate two home made meat pies, then had a slice of turkey and cranberry pie about 1am.

Then I didn't sleep until 5am and was up at 8am.

I'm used to feeling a bit drained with the insomnia (I just ignore that now, it seems to be the way my body reacts to odd shifts) but this is horrible, feels like I'm gonna chuck at any moment! hurl

Def the worst I've ever had it. I'll grab some gaviscon on way home.

As for the gayer in the crowd, yeah I'm reasonably fit (let it go in a big way over december but hoping to get back on track tonight at the start of an 18 week programme eek

used to get loads, doctors advice ? drink milk...

spent a few weeks away a few years ago, cooked breakfast with no milk, eventually found out it was dairy milk and now use sweetend soya. have the odd prescription pill, get them free and so easier than buying them
