Three West Yorkshire police (one in overalls) knock on a door and ask a driver for the keys to his car. He obliges and on checking, police find a loose battery connection and an allegedly empty windscreen washer container.

Driver is given a fixed penalty notice (£60 fine) and a three-point endorsement, even though he claims there was fluid in the washer and they did not test it for function.

Keep in mind the car was parked at his home and he may well have intended to top up the reservoir before using the car. Officers had been visiting homes in the area as part of a “vehicle clampdown”

Is this yet another case of police harassment of drivers? Discuss.

dont have to give em the key tell em to sod off.

If it parked and you have completed your journy, they can even ask to look at your documents

pluss if its parke off the road on a drive you can trow em off you property if they wont leav when asked
