Six Weeks to Lose Weight - how?
Discussion
Hi all,
So, you've let yourself go in the last year or so; not too much, but you're probably twenty pounds heavier than you would like to be. You also have a school reunion in about six weeks, for which you want to look as best as can be achieved.
What would be the best way to go about this?
You're aware that crash dieting can be very bad for you, and you're willing to stabilise and control any regime after the February event - the main aim is to lose as much weight as possible in those six weeks.
You have as much time and opportunity as you need within those six weeks, and are willing to change diet requirements as needed. You also have plenty of willpower (unusually).
Yes, this is the position I'm putting myself in now. I am giving up alcohol for a year on January 1st (both for myself and for bet-winning purposes) and intend to start using the gym I've been paying for pointlessly during the last two years.
Would the services of a few personal trainer sessions be worthwile kickstarting my efforts? Would regular swimming help? Is weight training bad for what I need (i.e. muscle building adding weight)?
Any sensible suggestions (and no doubt a few silly ones) would be most appreciated!
Cheers,
EYW

are you willing to take supplements for these 6 weeks?
Do hard cardio sessions 4 times a week(1hr 15min. rowing, x trainer and running) following by 30 mins of weights.
Eat salads. and stay hydrated.
When you have dumped all that weight after six weeks you want to lay off, start doing 3 nights a week of cardio and weights

In that time span, low cal diet and jogging / running. Start off with fast walking interspersed with short jogs and build your way up over a distance of 2 - 3 miles.
Don't overdo it to start with and do it as regularly as possible.
It's basic but it works.

and NO fats or dairy products for the duration.no carbs, no alcohol (youve done this already), small amounts of fat and sugars
dont eat a big meal in the evening, stick to a sensible lunch and a light evening meal
eat breakfast !
plenty of water
even with only moderate excersise you should lose around 5 lbs a week with that regime, worked for me anyway

Are you in a relationship? If so, split up. Guaranteed to lose your appetite and the pounds will drop off!
Erm...
- Drink lots of water (even when you're not thirsty)
- Drink black coffee before 'working out'
- Eat small, regular meals
- Stop salad dodging
- Make sure you have breakfast to start your metabolism (porridge is ideal as it slowly releases energy and should keep you full)
- Regular, basic exercise - get a punch bag? They're good fun.
- Do press-ups and sit-ups in the morning and at night. Just as many as you can do before you fail - if you're that fat, do them on your knees like girls do.
Just simple stuff which fat people can never be arsed to do. Because they're so f
king lazy and moany.

Keep the carbs low-ish, fat very low but not zero and have plenty of protein. Chicken salads, non-oily fish, loads of veg, steer clear of red meat.
Depends on your size but 1500-2000 calories per day should see you ok if your of "average" size. maybe a bit more if your a tall/well built individual, less if you're a wee-man!
And stop drinking alcohol!
I lost 2 stone in 4-5 weeks doing this, and it stayed off too so long as I kept up the exercise, could even drink and eat pizza!
All goes to s
t the moment you pack up the exercise though.,
