robin hood based on dolomite sprint..chassis construction?
Discussion
robin hood sold some kits in 1989 until..1990(?) based on Triumph Dolomite.
i got an offer for such a car, based on a sprint. the owner cant tell me anything about the chassis.
now its your time:
even infos at "google" are very rare.
i found: a stainless monocoque with the front subframe of the dolomite.
is that correct? and how is the rear end?
any things i should watch out for on this model?

Hi, A mate of mine had a Dolomite 'based' Robin Hood, from memory I think it used the dolomite axle with a tie bar / 5 bar link set up. This was the first 'monocoque' kit they made I think ! They didn't make them for long, then they moved onto using Cortinas, then Sierras. ( made the cars wider and longer ) You will find the Dolomite based kit quite narrow. Or you can try the owners club : www.community.rhocar.org Hope this helps.
thanx for the info and the link.
i already visited this homepage a few days ago but not much info about the dolomite versions found.
for me it looks like a bit a "patchwork" car:
stainless monocoque from robinhood, steel subframe from triumph, rear suspension parts, i ean the links, from.....?
car isnt expsenive, 1800,-pound, incl.new mot, with an old registration (but properly registrated as robin hood in the v5).

If you register/log in to rhocar you should be able to ask questions ( like on here ) they are quite a helpful bunch and someone is bound to have a dolomite based one that could help you. As long as its registered correctly as you say ,then you dont have worry about S.V.A etc.... please bear in mind that they are quite a bit smaller than the later ones, try it for size first ! Good luck with it. Happy New Year too !
Early dolomite based cars had a tube chassis which had the dolomite front subframe welded into it. I used to know a guy who had a dolomite sprint car on which nearly all of the welds between the subframe and chassis cracked. Later cars where a monocoque with the subrame welded into that. Again I would suggest the RH owners for info.
