I've been given some money. not a huge mount from my late grandfathers will.

Was wondering what the PH collective mind things about getting the best return.
Premium bonds? my daughters have some and get £300-£400 back a year on 10k each they have

Stocks and share's, talking to a freind whos a financial advisor who suggested its a good time and the stocks have down down vastly recently.

i've not really got a great idea where to look and I've never had much to invest in the past.

Banks (where I have kept saving in the past) don't seem worth putting your money in at the moment.

thoughts?

I put mine in the AA Savings account which were offering an ok rate. Did think about premium bonds but the people I know who have them, don't get that much in return.

I like the thought of stocks and shares at the moment but would not know where to look to find out how to buy them.

and would it be worth it?

Apropos Premium Bonds, I read recently that the prize payouts are governed in total amount in line with BoE base rates. That is the total number of payouts is reduced or increased by some sort of pro rata system. Therefore it is a fallacy to assume that Premium Bonds become more attractive in low base rate times than when interest rates are higher. Not a lot of people know that, I gather...
