I've just removed the switch panel in order to fix a dodgy fan switch. Amongst the mass of cables is one with a metal socket and what looks like a small bulb (similar to that used for the cabin light). Anyone know what it is?

The best I can come up with is perhaps it is the bulb used to illuminate the petrol gauge, as that stopped working a few months back confused Oh, it doesn't light up with the other instruments, but that might simply be that the bulb is blown.

Some of the controls are illuminated by fibre optics which are fed from that central bulb.

I have one under my switch panel. I just assumed it was inline to give the circuit some load. Don't know which circuit mind you.

My fibreoptics are fed from a bulb inside a massive cylindrical holder, which I wouldn't have thought matched the discription above. If it is this then it comes from a 1980-85ish Range Rover.

It is the Range Rover one - I've got a Range Rover Haynes manual and it is identical.

Its a small bulb, and not the one driving the instrumentation illumination. I left it alone and had limited time to put the car back together.

I've been in my panel today and there is no rogue bulb present on mine. The only onesare the fibre optics "cylinder" and the ones for the fog/driving light on indicators (built into the swithes)

Bloody angry, loud, fast and it tries to kill me every time I go out in it in this weather, absolutely love it hehe.
I'd liked to have kept the V8S as well and do miss it for time to time, but I think I'd push for a Tam now if I had another open top TVR tbh.
