Anyone watching the Christmas Lectures?

Missed yesterdays, hoping to find it on catch up TV over the internet. I was told it featured how micro processors work and the battles they face in getting more and more speed vs heat produced. Also covered how they believe the way human DNA is structured, is a possible avenue for data storage, and that the DNA in a human could store more data than all the hard drives of the world combined, I would like to see that.

Another one on tonight - anyone else watching?

Well worth while - although remember it's aimed at teen audience so is a bit Newsround at times.
However all will learn something and most will learn a lot and the experiments and the way the info is presented is superb.
Should be more of this sort of stuff on TV and less crappy shouty soap garbage !

I agree that it can be a bit news round, but it's actually very well presented, well it was last year!

Makes a change to watch something like this rather than soap drivel.

Yes.

But, as with everything else they turn their hand to, they'd be st at it.

I've missed this thread until now I remember being forced to sit through them at school - I couldn't bare it.
Now I'm older and can watch them on my own accord, they're much more enjoyable whenever I have caught them (not for a while, I must confess)

Are they still presented by that silver-haired, well spoken chap?

Watched tonights, but with a computing science degree, none of it really done anything for me. I have fond memories of watching it when I was younger though. Sat and watched through Dawkins 'Growing up in the Universe' one the other week, can vaguely remember seeing a bit when it was on I'm sure, I would have been about 9.

It's a real indictment of the current management of the BBC that they abandoned this a number of years ago. This is EXACTLY what the Beeb should be showing.

Well done C5 for taking it up.

C5 is not a bad channel at all these days. It shows some interesting stuff and has moved on a lot from its original incarnation.

C5 take up quote a lot of Discovery/History Channel type programmes for mainstream TV. They showed a very good programme about the lost 4th Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Djedefre.

That is an awesome site! It's taken me an hour to reply to this thread as I got side tracked with TED videos, thanks for posting it.
