I have a number of jobs requiring minor decorating, plumbing and electrical work. Nothing major, just more than I want to attempt myself.

I live in the Blackheath area (South East London). Any ideas how I can find a trusted handyman?

I used Yell - typed in Handyman. Got a load of references which is all you can do unless someone you know has recommended. However, took the plunge with a chap based in Balham who did a bloody good job on my kitchen refurb project. I have emailed you his details.

You need references - speak to your neighbours.

I know an electrician in Bromley who seems good enough if that is any help?

Have you had a look at www.myhammer.co.uk? You may find a tradesman on there with a good rating.

Invite them round to get a quote and leave your OH's underwear drawer open. If anything goes missing, don't invite them back!
