See Any Good Horror Films Recently?

My wife loves modern horror films. We've seen both Hostels, all the Saws, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wrong Turn etc but we're finding it hard to discover films we've not seen before.
Someone recommended The Strangers but when I looked it up on IMDB two different people described it as the worst film they've ever seen - and I don't want to waste two hours to find out it is!
So, any recommendations?

Well it depends on what you mean by horror - I certainly wouldn't dignify the current crop of splatter-porn films (eg Hostel, Saw) with the title, and frankly I was more scared by Rentaghost.
The creepiest I've seen recently are the Ring and Grudge series - purists will say that the original Japanese are better than the American remakes but having seen both I wouldn't say there was much in it. Both are excellent and very scary.

Don't know if you've seen Wolf Creek, but that was pretty good. Along similar lines to the Saw films is the Roland Joffe film Captivity. If you don't mind subtitles you could try Switchblade Romance, The Ordeal or Funny Games. Funny Games probably not stictly horror but is excellent and there is an English language remake of the original out.
A truly nasty film, and the only one that've almost had to switch off, again isn't a 'horror' film but is horrifying, is the French film Irreversible. Certainly a film that you'll remember for a long time.

The Strangers is good. It depends what you find scary. I don't like jumpy scenes and the more psychological side of things. I found Hostel fine as it's more gore and shock factor which doesn't bother me.
Stir Of Echoes with Kevin Bacon is very good IMHO! More of a psychological super-natural thriller. Gave me some jumps.

If you like Zombie films there's tons. Dead Meat, Day of the Dead, The Evil Dead collection, Night of the Living Dead, 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead etc. I love zombie films.
The Devil's Rejects is pretty good - again more shock and gore factor. Directed by Rob Zombie who has some twisted stuff in his head.
Then you have your usual slashers like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, The Hills Have Eyes etc which I'm sure you've seen plenty of times if you're into your horrors.
The Descent and Eden Lake are 2 good British horror films. They are both jumpy, claustraphobic tense thriller/horrors if you like that sort of thing.
I really like Children of the Corn - that scared the crap out of me when I was younger!
Also, if you've not seen it (which I haven't yet!), Rosemary's Baby is suppose to be a classic! I tried recording it on Sky+ the other week but it was sign languaged!

ETA - 30 days of night is excellent
But not 'that' gory...
I don't like gorefests, which is all the modern ones seem to be
Look for anything by Sptehen King or James Herbert for proper Horror/Terror
